Busan family guide
Busan is Korea's big seaside city: sandy beaches reachable by metro, a clifftop temple with waves crashing below and whole hillsides of brightly painted houses. Days mix sand and sea with fish markets, cable cars and street snacks, and the KTX train from Seoul arrives in about two and a half hours. It suits families who want a city break and a beach holiday in one trip.
Create a Busan activity bookBest ages
Children of 5 and up get the most from the steep alleys of Gamcheon and the cliff walks. Younger ones are happy with Haeundae's sand, the aquarium and the beach train, though the sky capsules want an adult with every child.
Stroller
Haeundae and Gwangalli promenades, the metro and big malls are smooth with plenty of lifts. Gamcheon, Haedong Yonggungsa and Taejongdae have many stairs, so a carrier is far easier there.

Haeundae Beach and Blueline Park Ages 3+
Build sandcastles on Korea's best-known city beach, then ride the slow Sky Capsule pods along the cliffs towards Cheongsapo. Capsules seat up to four and cost roughly ₩30,000-50,000 per pod, so book a time slot online in busy months.
Gamcheon Culture Village Ages 5+
A hillside of pastel houses with murals, fish sculptures and a Little Prince statue looking over the harbour. Buy the stamp-trail map for a couple of thousand won and children collect stamps at shops and galleries along the route.
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple Ages 4+
This Buddhist temple sits on rocks right above the sea, with a stone bridge, golden Buddha statues and a row of zodiac animal figures kids love to find. Entry is free; go early to avoid the weekend crowds.
Songdo Beach and Air Cruise Ages 4+
Ride the cable car across the bay in a glass-floored Crystal Cabin, then walk the curved Songdo Skywalk over the water. A return adult ticket costs roughly ₩17,000-24,000 depending on cabin type.
Jagalchi Market and BIFF Square Ages 4+
See octopus, crabs and giant fish in Korea's largest seafood market, then walk to BIFF Square for ssiat hotteok, sweet pancakes stuffed with seeds. A hotteok costs around ₩2,000-3,000.

Getting around
Busan's metro covers most sights: Line 2 runs to Gwangalli and Haeundae, and Line 1 to Busan Station and Jagalchi. Load a T-money card for metro, buses and taxis; Haedong Yonggungsa and Gamcheon need a short bus or taxi from the nearest station.
Food kids like
Children usually love eomuk fish cakes on sticks, ssiat hotteok and mild dwaeji gukbap, a pork and rice soup. Many dishes are spicy, so ask for 'an maepge' (not spicy); restaurants serve dinner from about 17:30 and side dishes are refilled for free.

Safety notes
- Traffic drives on the right and cars often turn right on red, so hold small hands at every crossing and watch for delivery scooters on pavements.
- Lifeguards and swimming zones operate mainly from June to August; stay between the flags at Haeundae, where waves and currents can be strong.
- Late June and July bring heavy monsoon rain and August can be very humid, with occasional typhoons, so keep a flexible indoor plan.
